2007 CotY Awards – Residential Addition
The owners wanted to create a space for their kids to play, do homework and bring their friends. They figured the best way to create the space, while still maintaining the privacy of their home, was to convert the existing garage into a game room with a separate entrance.
After: The new garage looks as if it has always been a part of the home.
After: The pop-outs were finished with new brick that match the brick on the existing home pop-outs.
After: It was really important for the owners that the new addition looked as if it had always been a part of the home.
After: Four garage doors were installed. Each door was carriage style with glass windows at the top.
After: The new garage conversion area was created for the kids and their friends and no expense was spared. New hardwood flooring was installed on the floor, recessed can lights were installed in the ceiling, skylights were installed for additional natural lighting, along with oak trim and doors. The walls were painted with a two-color paint scheme and crown molding was added for accent. The owners also had a pool table, air hockey table and a flat screen TV installed for their enjoyment.
After: The owners decided to have the sidewalks in the backyard colored and stamped to add some style. New siding and roofing material were added to the garage to match the existing home. The downspouts were connected to the drain pipes in order to allow for proper drainage.
After: An important goal of the remodel was that the new space should look like it had always been a part of the home and that it was stylish. An antique stove was installed in order to help accomplish that goal.
